It all started long ago...
As you can see below, my passion for art started at young age. My favorite theme was fairy tale villains, monsters, ghosts, demons and skeletons and I projected it anywhere and with any variation of art technique i could.
I even draw infamous comic book called "Kamarádi z Hrobu" which can be translated as "Friends from the Grave". It was inspired by comic books, art books, video games, movies and stories. It's kind of what I'm aiming at the whole time - to combine horrors with a little bit of fun or grotesque vibe.
And I stayed loyal to this theme to this day...

What is this about?
I create paintings and items with horror, macabre and grotesque themes. I love this style and it's my goal to share with You. As you can see above, I do this kind of artwork since childhood. It's my lifetime passion to create with my own style so i decided to give it a try and i made this website, to show you what you are missing on that one empty wall in your home.
Who I am?
My name is Matěj Holý. I have been involved in art since my childhood hands could hold the first candlestick. I mainly paint on canvas, draw and add a bit of carving to my creations. I'm more or less a self-taught artist - maybe just woodcarving, I learned it in the extension studio. Inspiration seeps into my brain from various sources. It is both life around and reality and escape from reality and everything that goes with it. It can be the most unnecessary and random moments or deep thoughts that keep me awake. I create as the idea comes and sometimes I create and the idea comes to me. I've always liked the darker side of the world, so I'm adding to it. The heroes were always all the same to me, but the villains and their stories were always more interesting. However, I try to combine the horror with a bit of humor and exaggeration because even the skull laughs and they will take us all away so why not have fun along the way?
